Building a Strong Grant & Project Budget
A strong budget can make the difference between a good project idea and a fundable proposal. In this practical workshop, participants will learn how to create a clear, realistic budget for a grant application or creative project.
Join Quintonia Thorpe as she walks you through the essential components of a project budget from identifying expenses and estimating costs to accounting for artist fees, materials, overhead, and other project-related expenses. Participants will also learn how to align their budget with their project narrative, avoid common budgeting mistakes, and present their budget numbers in a way that helps funders understand the true value of the work.
Whether you’re preparing your first grant application or looking to strengthen your existing budgeting skills, you’ll leave with a framework you can use for future projects and funding opportunities. Participants will leave with a handout and budget spreadsheet template to use for future projects.
Registration is limited. This virtual session meets on Tuesday, October 6, 2026 from 12 - 1:30PM EST, with a presentation followed by a Q & A session. The class meets on Zoom and you will receive login information in your registration email. This session will be recorded and available for a limited time to class registrants only. However, we encourage you to join live to ask questions and engage in the conversation.
