Digital Skills for Telehealth Access

Participants at a NCCU Rural Health Center learn how to access and use telehealth resources.
Kramden is working with Carolina Complete Health to connect their clients with telehealth resources. The project is bringing foundational computer skills courses with a telehealth component to residents in central and eastern NC including Cumberland, Halifax, Nash, Wake, and Warren counties. Through our train-the-trainer program, partner organizations in these counties are hosting one-day, four-hour training sessions for up to 15 participants each. As with all of Kramden’s computer skills courses, each participant receives a refurbished laptop computer.
Thank you to the community partners who are hosting the Computer Essentials classes:
Fayetteville Cares Day Resource Center
SHIP Outreach and Grow Your World

Onslow Hispanic Latino Association
Instructors were trained by Kramden staff earlier this year to deliver the Computer Essentials course. In addition to our standard class, our Curriculum Specialist and instructors developed a new telehealth readiness component. This section of the course teaches participants how to access healthcare online. Other topics include using apps, password safety and management, and tips for troubleshooting common issues.
So far, four classes have been completed with 44 individuals earning a certificate and laptop. One participant reached out by email to express their gratitude for the program:
“I personally thank you and your outreach organization for doing such a good job. I’ll be talking to some people about this referral outreach computer tech program and other programs too to help out the Community in need. Thank you once again for you and all staff members.”
Kramden has also attended CCH events, including a back-to-school night last week, where clients received more information about our programs.
