Catch up with our Fall 2025 Interns

Fall interns attend an equipment donation training. From left to right: James Levison, Seda Yegin, Mary Johnson, and Will Jones.

It takes a lot of time and people to run Kramden’s many programs. In addition to our wonderful staff and volunteers, Kramden hosts paid internships throughout the year. This fall, we are joined by four technology interns who are supporting Kramden’s operations while learning computer repair, tech support, and more.

Our interns come from a range of backgrounds and bring diverse experiences to our team. James and Mary have degrees in computer science. James, a student at Wake Tech, said that he wanted to learn more about computer hardware after working as a product specialist. Will previously worked in civil engineering. He has volunteered with Kramden since July of this year, and was excited to take the internship opportunity. Seda comes to Kramden with a degree in Literature and a software background. Seda found Kramden through NPower, a national nonprofit that connects young adults with career opportunities in the technology sector.

When talking about their interest in the Kramden internship, they all spoke about their desire to gain hands-on experience. Technology Interns primarily work within the operations team. They help our warehouse staff by refurbishing computers that go out to students and adults through our device programs. In addition to these operations duties, Kramden has provided more opportunities to take part in the many tasks that keep our programs running.

This has included assisting with our Computer Basics courses, where interns can the direct impact of our work. Mary joined our Technology Instructor Melanie to assist with our Monday evening class. Mary said she enjoyed meeting participants and helping to answer their questions. She says that she has always been the “tech support friend” and had a good experience helping clients better understand what they were learning in the class.

The interns also got on the phone making calls to previous device donors. Kramden’s Business Strategist, Ian Templeton, led the training for interns to learn how to pitch to donors. The training included a detailed overview of Kramden’s device acquisition process and ended with interns making calls to former business equipment donors to find out if they are ready to give more devices to Kramden.

Kramden is proud to partner with Google Fiber and the NC Department of IT to provide paid internships year-round.
