Hayti Dialogues: IN CONVERSATION WITH Bakari sellers

Friday, July 17, 2026, 7 PMHayti Heritage Center

CNN analyst, attorney, and bestselling author Bakari Sellers brings his sharp political insight and Southern sensibility to Durham. At just 22, he was elected to the South Carolina legislature—the youngest African American elected official in the nation at the time. Now a practicing attorney at Strom Law Firm, Sellers leads its strategic communications and public affairs efforts while continuing national advocacy through the NAACP Legal Defense Fund. His books My Vanishing Country and The Moment explore race, resilience, and democracy with clarity and urgency. This evening of conversation—followed by a book signing—offers timely analysis and an invitation to action.
